These Terms govern access to and use of the PPSG platform, which introduces homeowners to pet sitters for unpaid house‑ and pet‑sitting engagements. PPSG is an introductory service only and is not a party to any sit between users.

1. DEFINITIONS

1.1 Platform: the PPSG website, applications, and related services provide an introductory marketplace for homeowners and pet sitters.
1.2 Homeowner: a person listing a home/pets and seeking an unpaid pet‑sitting arrangement.
1.3 Pet Sitter: a person offering unpaid pet and house‑sitting in exchange for a revocable licence to occupy the home during the sit for free.
1.4 Sit: a defined period during which a Pet Sitter resides in the Homeowner’s property and provides agreed care.
1.5 Agreement Between Users: the private arrangement between a Homeowner and a Pet Sitter for a Sit. PPSG is not a party to the agreement between Users.
1.6 User/s: the Homeowner and/or the Pet Sitter.

2. NATURE OF THE SERVICE; NO EMPLOYMENT, LEASE, OR AGENCY

2.1 PPSG is an introductory marketplace only. PPSG does not employ Pet Sitters, does not act as principal/agent for any user, and does not create a lease, innkeeper relationship, domestic employment, or joint venture.
2.2 All sits are unpaid and voluntary; any value‑in‑kind (temporary accommodation) forms part of the private arrangement between users.
2.3 PPSG does not supervise sits, provide insurance, or guarantee outcomes; users make their own enquiries and arrangements and do security checks, although PPSG may do security checks and convey any suspicious entries to a relevant User. The PPSG platform will also require reviews from both the Sitter and Homeowner, which will be made publicly available for any other future Users.
2.4 All legally required documents applicable to a Sit must be uploaded to the PPSG Platform. A Sit may only be confirmed once both the Homeowner and the Pet Sitter have accepted the Platform Terms and Conditions, which incorporate and include all four (4) applicable legal documents, as amended from time to time.

3. ELIGIBILITY & CONDUCT

3.1 Users must be 18+, legally capable, and must maintain accurate, non‑misleading profiles and listings.
3.2 Users must comply with applicable laws, estate/HOA rules, municipal by‑laws (including coastal by‑laws), and secure third‑party consents where required (landlord, body corporate, insurer).
3.3 No unlawful discrimination, harassment, hate speech, violence, unsafe conduct or illegal activity.
3.4 Communication and booking must occur through the Platform until a Sit is confirmed and membership fees are up to date.

4. MEMBERSHIP, FEES & ACCESS

Membership
• 1st Time register fee sit sitter: R1000 (R350 criminal check, R650 Administrative fees)
• Pet sitter monthly subscription fee: R150
• Homeowner monthly subscription fee: R150
• House owner & pet sitter must sign T&C’s when signing up for subscription
• Cancel subscription at any time, when you re-register there will be re-joining fee of R650 and criminal check might be done depending on period.
• You cannot make a booking or connect with homeowners or pet sitters if subscription is not paid.
• A person must log in before booking / communication advertisements: disable if not paid.
4.1 First‑time registration fee: R1,000 [CM1.1](R350 Police Clearance processing; R650 administrative fees). These amounts might be amended by PPSG from time to time.
4.2 Subscription fees are payable as follows: Pet Sitters and Homeowners are each charged R150 per month. PPSG reserves the right to amend the subscription model. An optional Pet Sitter alerts add-on is available at R199 per month or R2,388 annually, enabling Pet Sitters to receive notifications when Homeowners require pet-sitting services Access control: login required to view adverts; no booking or connection if subscription is unpaid.
4.3 Acceptance: Owners and Sitters must accept these Terms upon sign‑up and renewal.
4.4 Cancellation at any time with effect from the next billing cycle; re‑registration subject to initial re‑join fee.
4.5 PPSG may suspend/terminate accounts for breach, risk and fraud (with reasonable notice), or non‑payment.

5. SECURITY, SCREENING & LISTING APPROVAL

5.1 Mandatory verification for Sitters: (a) ID verification; (b) Police Clearance; (c) Proof of Address; (d) 2–4 written references.. PPSG retains the sole discretion to determine the suitability of applicants who have a criminal record. Depending on the nature, severity, and relevance of the offence, PPSG may require additional or more comprehensive background checks before making a final determination.
Owner security: platform ads show only the town where the services are required; the full address is disclosed only after the Owner confirms the Sitter. If the Owner has a security provider, they may arrange an inspection/check‑in during the sit.
5.2 PPSG may partner with specialist providers for police and security checks. The Homeowner is responsible for paying the police clearance fee before it is applied for.
5.3 Listing approval: every advert (Owner and Sitter) may be reviewed by PPSG before publication; PPSG may refuse or remove non‑compliant listings.
5.4 Photos: listings must include clear photos of pets and key rooms. Daily/Weekly updates during the sit are recommended and may be required if specified in the listing.

6. REVIEWS & REPUTATION

Each party should post a truthful and fair review after every sit. Reviews must comply with defamation and privacy laws. PPSG may moderate unlawful or abusive content.

7. OWNER HOUSE RULES & DISCLOSURES

7.1 Owners must publish clear responsibilities and house rules, including pet routines, medications, vet contact, emergency care, house tasks (plants, pool, bins, basic security), permitted areas/amenities and restrictions.
7.2 The home must be reasonably clean and safe on handover, with adequate pet supplies for the period, unless otherwise agreed.
7.3 Owners must disclose material risks (e.g., reactive dog, escape risks, pool safety, construction, CCTV zones).
7.4 Owners must confirm the number of people allowed to stay.

8. SITTER CONDUCT & CARE STANDARD

8.1 Provide reliable, compassionate pet care per the published routines and maintain the home clean and tidy.
8.2 No sub‑sits. Only the approved Sitter(s) may perform the Sit. Guest limits apply per listing.
8.3 Comply with estate/HOA rules and municipal by‑laws (noise, waste, water restrictions, animal by‑laws).
8.4 Provide updates/photos as agreed (recommended daily/weekly unless otherwise specified).
8.5 Emergencies: seek prompt vet care if required and notify the Owner immediately. Handle urgent home issues using Owner’s nominated contacts and security provider.

9. MATCHING, BOOKING & PRE‑SIT CHECKLIST

9.1 Communicate via the Platform, hold a video call, exchange references, and agree scope in writing on‑platform.
9.2 Pre‑Sit pack (Owner to Sitter): house manual, pet routine sheet, emergency contacts, vet letter of authority, key handover, alarm/CCTV notice, utility instructions, security provider details, insurance contact, guest policy.
9.3 Check‑in/out: record arrival/departure with timestamped photos and a brief condition note.

10. EXPENSES & INSURANCE

10.1 No cash compensation is provided unless expressly agreed upon by users. Ordinary pet consumables for the Owner’s account unless otherwise agreed.
10.2 Sitters cover their own travel/food/personal costs unless otherwise agreed.
10.3 Users must maintain appropriate insurance (Owner: homeowners/contents; Sitter: personal liability/medical upon request). PPSG provides no insurance and takes no responsibility or liability for any damage or losses, and the Users indemnify PPSG accordingly.

11. CANCELLATIONS, EARLY TERMINATION & REPLACEMENTS

11.1 Either party may cancel before commencement for legitimate reasons (safety, misrepresentation, illness, bereavement, force majeure).
11.2 Any cancellation effected less than twenty-one (21) days prior to the commencement date shall result in a cancellation fee becoming due and payable, calculated at R1 500.00 per day for the full sitting period, being R15 000.00 (R1 500.00 × 10 days), which amount shall be paid within three (3) days of such cancellation.
11.3 Parties cooperate reasonably to secure pet care continuity if a sit is terminated early. PPSG may assist with replacements, but does not guarantee availability. The User cancelling the sit shall be responsible for the cancellation fee of R2000 per day, for the whole sitting period. Payable on the same terms as clause 11.2.

11.4 Notwithstanding clause 11.2, a Pet Sitter who cancels shall be entitled to mitigate the cancellation fee by proposing a suitable replacement Pet Sitter, subject to the prior written approval of the Homeowner. Where such replacement is approved and performs the sitting services, no cancellation fee shall be payable

12. IMMIGRATION/VISAS & CROSS‑BORDER SITS

Users are solely responsible for their own visas/permits when they are cross‑border. PPSG provides no immigration advice and is not responsible for border outcomes.

13. POPIA, PRIVACY & SURVEILLANCE

13.1 PPSG processes personal information to operate the Platform, verify identity, prevent fraud and enable matches as far as possible.
13.2 Users must not upload others’ personal data without consent; reviews must avoid unlawful disclosures.
13.3 If CCTV/smart devices are present, the Owner must disclose locations and disable/cover interior cameras in private areas during the sit, save for bona fide security in common areas with notice.
13.4 Data subject rights (access, correction, objection, deletion) are available per PPSG’s Privacy Notice.

14. CONTENT & IP

14.1 Users grant PPSG a non‑exclusive licence to display their listings, reviews and photos for marketing and Platform purposes.
14.2 Users must not copy/scrape others’ content or infringe third‑party rights.

15. BREACH & ENFORCEMENT

PPSG may remove content, pause listings, or suspend/terminate accounts for violations, safety risks, or credible fraud reports, with notice where feasible.

16. DISPUTES BETWEEN USERS

Users must first try to resolve issues directly. PPSG may, according to its sole discretion, facilitate messaging or mediation without prejudice, but is not a decision‑maker nor is it responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any User.

17. GOVERNING LAW & FORUM

The Users agree that this agreement will be governed by South African law.

18. SEVERABILITY

If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Any invalid provision shall be modified only to the extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

19. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the Parties regarding its subject matter and supersedes all prior written or oral agreements. Any amendment must be in writing and signed by both Parties.
